He also conducted the Boston Pops Orchestra at the invitation of Arthur Fiedler in 1970. He made history by conducting the first ever pops concert in China in 1998 with the China National Symphony Orchestra. In 2005, he returned to China with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra to perform at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
